Firewire Pictures:

Firewire Pictures explore the intersection of digital technology and painting, locating itself at the point where the virtual world (new media) meets the physical world (traditional media). At this intersection the ephemeral, un-located space of digital video is attached, by means of projection, to the fixed object of a painting, illuminating and imparting it with motion and the element of time. Artists have been using digital technology for over forty years. Of the art created since that time, little directly investigates the intersection of new media with traditional media. This work brings both together in a unique dialog that employs computer hardware and software as creative tools that project layers of light, digital video and motion graphics onto large-scale paintings, constructing a hybrid visual media, revealing a new pictorial space.
